US Department of Education Student Information Center Calls for Establishment of Student Mental Health Counseling Committees in Schools

The US Department of Education Student Information Center is urging schools nationwide to establish Student Mental Health Counseling Committees to better address and support the mental health needs of students.

With increasing societal pressures, academic competition, and interpersonal issues, student mental health concerns are becoming more pronounced. In light of this, the US Department of Education Student Information Center emphasizes the importance of schools prioritizing student mental health and proposes the establishment of Student Mental Health Counseling Committees.

The primary tasks of these committees include, but are not limited to:

1.Formulating Mental Health Support Policies: The committees will develop school policies to ensure students receive adequate support and attention regarding their mental health.

2.Providing Counseling and Support Services: Committees will coordinate mental health counseling and support services both within and outside the school to offer timely and effective assistance to students.

3.Advancing Mental Health Education: Committees will promote the implementation of mental health education to enhance students' awareness of and coping skills for mental health issues.

4.Overseeing the Utilization of Mental Health Resources: Committees will monitor the utilization of school mental health resources to ensure their proper allocation and effective use.

The US Department of Education Student Information Center asserts that establishing Student Mental Health Counseling Committees will help schools more comprehensively address and support students' mental health needs, thereby enhancing students' quality of learning and life and promoting overall school development.

To facilitate the implementation of this initiative, the US Department of Education Student Information Center will provide guidance and support, encouraging schools nationwide to actively form Student Mental Health Counseling Committees and work together to make greater contributions to student mental health.
